Description
Cummins has a trust-worthy reputation for rock-solid durability and worry-free performance. The latest generation 6.7 L Cummins reinforces that reputation with a CGI block, stronger crankshaft, redesigned connecting rods, and 2,000 bar fuel system. The one chink in the newly-revised armor is the Bosch CP4.2 high pressure pump. In contrast to Cummins, it has a bad reputation for premature failure and destroying the entire high-pressure fuel system with fine metal debris, when does.
Many years of engine and fuel system development experience at Cummins compelled our design team to create a refined solution around the bullet proof Bosch CP3 pump, that has a more befitting reputation. As the base component for our high-pressure pumps, the CP3 has proven to withstand extreme pressure, extreme RPM, and extreme environmental conditions; making it the preferred hardware for the S&S 2019+ RAM durability solution.
At the heart of the S&S Diesel Motorsport 2019-2020 RAM No Tune CP3 Conversion Kit is a brand-new Bosch CP3NH base pump that is internally modified for improved durability, high speed performance, and tuning-free rail pressure control. The ultra-reliable CP3 is combined with OE-grade components for a truly refined kit that looks as if it had come out of the Cummins Mid-Range Engine Plant in Columbus, IN. The No Tune kit is a must-have, CARB-compliant (EO #D-756-5), durability improvement that does not change output.
The next generation 6.7 L Cummins features many design improvements that make it an excellent choice for competition builds, including a front cover that over-drives the pump at a 1.5:1 ratio. To take advantage of this feature, S&S is offering kits with high-speed optimized competition pumps. Higher pump speed equals higher output, yet there are RPM limits for each size pump.
Pump Speed Limits
10mm High Speed – 8,000 pump RPM | 5,333 engine RPM
12mm High Speed – 7,000 pump RPM | 4,667 engine RPM
14mm High Speed – 6,000 pump RPM | 4,000 engine RPM
The install kit can be sold separately for those who already have CP3 pumps, with the understanding that it will work best with S&S high speed pumps. Other CP3 pumps may not be optimized for high speed operation and output could flatline past 3,500 pump RPM.
